I recently bought a Diamondback Nordet after months of online research and numerous trips to local bike stores to educate myself on e-bikes. Good news: I couldn't be happier with my new ride!
The bike frame's design and construction (TIG-welded 6061 aluminum) are very good for a hybrid-style commuter e-bike. It steers and handles just like a regular hybrid or city bicycle.
The Bafang M600 motor is FANTASTIC: powerful, responsive and quiet. It has "flattened" all of the hills along my regular routes! The removable battery pack is well made, delivers 14Ah (as advertised) and features genuine Samsung battery cells.
The rest of the bike is equipped with a reliable assortment of Shimano, Tektro and CUVU (house brand) components.
The motor weighs in around 3.5 kg and the battery pack adds another 3.5 kg to the bike's total weight of about 23.5 kg. Believe it or not, that's considered reasonably light for a mid-motor aluminum e-bike. Lighter ones exist, but the weight savings are probably not worth the thousands of additional dollars you'd need to shell out.
I added a heavy-duty rear rack, touring fenders and a water bottle cage.
BOTTOM LINE: If you're in the market for a powerful, long-range, comfortable and relatively affordable e-bike, the Diamondback Nordet is very hard to match and nearly impossible to beat! Nice work, Diamondback!
